I have a few "Runner Ups" I want to discuss first.

Julie Taymor - Visionary Director of Across The Universe:

This was my favorite movie of the year and the pure joy I felt watching this film carried over me for days. The critics either loved it or loathed it, but you have to give her credit for going for it. She had to know she would get skewered by the self rightous Beatles fans but like any true artist would, she had a vision and stuck it out. She is absolute magic. The DVD comes out on Feb 5th. A Valentine gift for all of us.

Rosie O'Donnell - Comedian, Activist and Squirrel Whisperer

I love Rosie. If you don't, too bad. I miss her on "The View", but getting a daily dose of her on her blog is way better, because she doesn't have to worry about advertisers, big corporation or a boss shaking a bony finger at her. She tells it like it is, she consoles people in need and when some rude person or cool aid drinker shows their ugly face she tells them to F' Off in no uncertain terms. Just the way you wish you could. If you don't get the Squirrel reference, then go to her blog and watch the videos. She is a natural inspiration.

Angelina Jolie - Paparazzi Wrangler

I am NOT a star struck Brangelina fan. I don't read the tabloids or watch the so called entertainment news program. I could care less about what ever the hot club in LA is or if some publicity seeking starlet goes to Starbucks five times a day. Angelina gets followed by the Paparazzi every minute of every day. Does she stumble drunk out of the sleezy bars in Vegas? Does she hang out with P Diddy? Does she pose for the Paps while shopping on Rodeo Drive?

No. She does not. She figures that if they are going to follow her like a stalker anyway, they might as well work for her. She goes to where ever there is trouble or people in need in the world. The paparazzi snap pictures of her wherever she is. So if these sleezy magazines put these pictures on the pages, they have to discuss why Angelina is standing in the middle of a refugees camp in Darfur. Some say that the Paps are out of control, but that only depends on who is trying to control them.

Sally Field - Actress, Mother and Target of Rupert Murdock.

On Brothers and Sisters, Miss Field beautifully plays the matriarch of a large family. She bravely struggled with her emotions about how her son dealt with his demons from his tour of duty in Afghanistan. Her son turned to drugs to stiffle his pain. Just as he was getting his life in order he was recalled to the military to go to Iraq. Sally Field brilliantly portrayed a mother fearing the worse. Now that her son is home, America gets to view how a mother deals with a soldier's long term recovery from his severe injuries. Watching her play Nora Walker is like watching a Master.

In September, Sally Field won an Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama. Since she won the award for playing a Military Mom, part of her speech honored the women she emulated on her show.

Transcript of the last part of her speech:

"Surely this belongs to all the mothers of the world, especially the mothers who stand with an open heart and wait. Wait for their children to come home from danger, from harm's way and from war. If the mothers ruled the world, there would be no God Damned wars in the first place."

Fox Television, which was broadcasting the Emmys, cut her speech as soon as she started to criticise war. They cut her mike and pulled the camera away from the stage. Some will argue that is because she said God Damned. Other stars earlier in the show let swear words slip and only the swear words were bleeped, not the whole statement. It was a clear act of censorship, plain and simple. Rupert Murdock owned Fox stations are clear supporters of the evil empire. This is just another example of why I no longer watch ANY thing from Fox Corp. The Emmys Organization should have been outraged and forever ban the Emmys from being broadcast on the Fox Networks.

Sally Field has been a joy to watch this past year

and I totally agree with her statement.
