3, 2, 1 ... And Here Comes The Crazies.

.
.
The right-wing American Family Association (AFA), best known because of its boycotts of McDonalds for supporting the development of gay owned small businesses and Proctor & Gamble because it advertised on the TV shows "Will and Grace" and "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" announced a protest of Hallmark as a reaction to the announcement of the sale of same sex marriage cards.
.
From the AFA protest site:

"We’ve all given or received Hallmark Cards – remember their slogan – “when you care enough to send the very best.” But promoting same-sex marriage for profit is not the very best for families or our nation. Hallmark is a private company obviously driven by greed. Let them know you do not appreciate Hallmark promoting a lifestyle which is illegal in 48 states. American Greeting Cards, Hallmark’s competitor, does not offer same-sex marriage cards."
.
We can only hope Hallmark holds tough against these bullies.
.
.
You can contact Hallmark
to let them know how you feel about the Hate-Mongers
.
by calling...

1-800-HALLMARK (800-425-5627),

by E-Mailing:

or by writing them at

Hallmark Cards, Inc.

Mail Drop 216
Kansas City, MO 64141-6580
.
Also, call your local Hallmark Store and ask when they will be stocking the cards. Go buy one, to show your support. If you don't know any couples that are getting married, use the card to write a letter to the American Family Association (AFA) and tell them to go take a flying leap. Let them know that they don't speak for your family.

Melancholy Memories (Updated)

I came across this picture on the internet and I immediately was taken back to conversations my Mother would have about her summers in Baltimore as a kid. She always talked about the bleach white steps on the houses. I thought she would appreciate the memory.

Per Mom's comment:
The Painted Screens of Baltimore

Hallmark Introduces Gay Wedding Cards

I think that Hallmark isn't trying very hard with their cards.
They seem very generic and sadly quite boring.
.
,
This should be their first cards that celibrate gay marriage.
,
.
I do give them credit for supporting our community.
It is really about supporting their wallets, more than anything else.
Watch for a boycott from the "GOOD" people at any moment.

"Boob" Tube Memories

Charlie's Angels
.
.
.
I used to love this show when I was a teen. Obviously, not for the same reason as other teen boys. I used to think it was great tv. After seeing reruns years later, I now realize that it was total crapola, with bad acting, dialog and storylines.
.
Each week was just an excuse to get the girls in as less as clothes as possibly. The T & A was so overdone, that I bet in the script it actually said "Boing, Boing, Boing" to indicate that the acteresses had to do a running scene.
.
It was so controversial at the time, due to the jiggle factor. But compared to the "Murder TV" that is on today, it was all very harmless.
.
Farrah Fawcett-Majors once attributed the show's success to this fact:
"When the show was number three, I figured it was our acting. When it got to be number one, I decided it could only be because none of us wears a bra."

I'm Bringing Home A Baby Bumble Bee ...

.
Yesterday a Bumble Bee flew up the leg of my shorts and stung me on the thigh. I have never been stung by a bumble bee and let me tell you, it hurt like hell. It actually hurts more today than yesterday. My whole thigh feels like one big bruise. So today, I'm going to be a whiney little bitch.

Helianthus annuus

Sunflowers from our yard.

From Wikipedia:
The sunflower (Helianthus annuus) is an annual plant native to the Americas in the family Asteraceae, with a large flowering head (inflorescene). The stem of the flower can grow as high as 3 metres tall, with the flower head reaching up to 30 cm in diameter with the "large" seeds. The term "sunflower" is also used to refer to all plants of the genus Helianthus, many of which are perennial plants.

National Gay Holiday

Happy 50th Birthday Madge!

"I'm tough, I'm ambitious, and I know exactly what I want.

If that makes me a bitch, okay."

- Madonna

Usually you get a gift on your birthday, but this year there seems to be a gift for all of us. Yesterday a song that Madonna recorded in 1998 (that didn't make it onto her "Ray Of Light" album) leaked and appeared all over the web. It is a cover of a ABBA ballad from their last album. It is fantastic and probably one of her best vocals ever. I love it more than most of the stuff she has recorded in the past decade. It is an instant classic, in my opinion.

"Like An Angel Passing Through My Room"

written by: Benny Andersson/Björn Ulvaeus

.

Long awaited darkness falls

casting shadows on the walls

in the twilight hour I am alone

sitting near the fireplace

dying embers warm my face

in this peaceful solitude

all the outside world subdued

everything comes back

to me again

in the gloom

like an angel passing through my room

Half awake and half in dreams

seeing long forgotten scenes

so the present runs

into the past

now and then become entwined

playing games within my mind

like the embers as they die

love was one prolonged good-bye

and it all comes

back to me tonight

in the gloom

like an angel passing through my room

I close my eyes

and my twilight

images go by

all too soon

like an angel passing through my room

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness

Top Ten Reasons Gay Marriage Will Destroy American Society

10. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester and air conditioning.

9. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

8. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even marry their pets, because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

7. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed at all: women are still property, blacks can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

6. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed: the sanctity of Britney Spears’ 55 hour “just for fun” marriage would be destroyed.

5. Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren’t full yet, and the world needs more children.

4. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

3. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we only have one religion in America.

2. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

1. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society. We could never adapt to social norm: just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy or longer life spans.
